SOPHIE COLE
BIO AND DESIGN STATEMENT:
Behind the label is designer, Sophie Cole. The daughter of a
numismatist, Sophie grew up amidst ancient Greco-Roman
coins and artefacts. Her father’s extensive knowledge in this
field instilled an ongoing desire to explore classical Greek
culture and architecture which have heavily influenced Sophie’s
design philosophy.
Drawing inspiration from this archaic source,
Sophie has also incorporated design elements from later
historical eras. She applies these archetypes, in order to
contrast sculptural classicism with bold and adventurous prints,
creating paradoxical harmony within her designs.
Exaggerated silhouettes, textural fabrics and an iconic use of
hardware are key characteristics of Sophie’s design aesthetic.
