AMAYA OTTOSSON
CREATIVE BIO
Amaya Ottosson is a Sydney-based photographer working at the intersection of fashion, lifestyle, and narrative storytelling. Her emphasis on movement, discipline, and natural fluidity has been shaped by her work as a tennis coach for the past five years. Throughout her artistic projects, these ideas are delicately linked together. Her work focuses on tactile styling, tonal palettes, and crisp lines. She also loves collage and layering to create compositions that are visually dynamic and meaningful. Her photography, which spans editorial and commercial projects, strikes a balance between authenticity and effortlessness to create authentic and purposeful photographs.

DESIGN STATEMENT
Open Stance challenges traditional views on how men and women should present themselves. The editorial captures how strength and softness may coexist and change based on the subject through simple, minimal styling. Men are styled in softer, more delicate designs that show sensitivity and nuance, while women are clothed in stronger, sharper silhouettes. In both cases, dynamic positions and expressive faces infuse the visual with attitude, energy, and emotion.
Subtle hints of sportswear and movement run throughout the project, providing physicality while maintaining the clean style. Open Stance challenges viewers to reevaluate conventional notions of femininity and masculinity and embrace them as expansive, dynamic, and individualised concepts by drawing on modern androgynous influences. In the end, the project honours uniqueness, complexity, and the ability to express oneself in ways that go beyond social norms.
