DESIGN STATEMENT
“Soft Shell Hard Coral” is inspired by the ethereal beauty and fluid movements of jellyfish and other oceanic life forms. This collection explores the tension between structure and softness — the delicate balance of danger and elegance beneath the sea. Undulating silhouettes, pleated textures, and asymmetric layers mimic the pulsating rhythm of marine creatures,
while natural fabrics such as abaca sinamay and silk drill highlight a sustainable approach. This innovative project showcases an exploration of new possibilities by incorporating unconventional materials such as crinoline and sanamay. A palette of dusty lilac, muted grey, and mint-forest tones contrasts with structured textiles like checks and pinstripes, which suggests the collision between the organic and the synthetic. Annabelle’s collection includes both menswear and womenswear looks — a trans-seasonal capsule which is a testament to its versatility. This collection exists between fantasy and form, translating the underwater world into fabric, line, and motion.
