DESIGN STATEMENT:
“Delicate Forms” is a transeasonal collection that takes inspiration from the fragile nature of a butterfly. Each look features curved line work and shaping inspired by the stages of a butterfly's metamorphosis from caterpillar, to cocoon, to taking flight.
Blending the insects' natural forms into fashion silhouettes is a key aesthetic within this collection as presented through the panelling, stuffed tubes and detailing of the trapunto. Large scale butterfly motifs are depicted in a variety of ways including an original print and design detailing. Silhouettes combine oversized and body-con shapes to flattering effect.
A muted colour palette featuring warm beige, earthy taupe and charcoal grey has been combined with unexpected silhouettes and design detailing.
Elements of sportswear and modern activewear such as puffer quilting, zippers, hoods and bodysuits have been incorporated with feminine silhouettes. Moire waterwave brocade, speckled canvas and custom print ponte di roma and slipper satin are combined with padding and quilting to create sculptural yet functional fashion pieces.
