Chloe Christie is a womenswear and menswear fashion student defined by artisanal leather work, material experimentation, and emotional storytelling. Every piece designed to reflect themes of nostalgia, ecology, and personal geography, particularly the landscape and textures of Lutruwita / Tasmania, where Chloe spent her childhood. Chloe’s philosophy merges sustainability with deeply personal narratives. Garments are imbued with stories: of place, family and craft. Rather than chasing trends, Chloe
favours timeless pieces that hold emotional weight, resisting disposability and rapid cycles of consumption. The focus on leather, a material known for durability and longevity, becomes a metaphor for the long term relationship between wearer and garment.
Project Statement
Oscillate is a collection that celebrates the movement of nature and the pull of nostalgia, inspired by a childhood spent in rural Tasmania. The designer uses texture and symbolism to craft a collection that is sleek and elegant, yet playful—inviting a closer look to uncover its thoughtful details. Influenced by vintage Western motifs, garlic and lantern flowers, artisanal leatherwork, and upcycling practices, each piece in Oscillate is designed to be treasured like an heirloom—something to keep, cherish, and pass down. Heirlooms and symbols hold the power to connect us to family and memory, especially when physical distance creates emotional space. Chloe’s collection reflects the complex feeling of nostalgia for a hometown you once longed to leave only to later find yourself drawn to the quiet charm and irreplaceable character of its people and places. Crafted from upcycled interior leather, denim, wool suiting, and corduroy, the garments are made to endure suited for both rural and urban landscapes. In a palette of rich browns, charcoal, and brass, Oscillate highlights texture and silhouette to create a visually striking, forward-thinking collection.
