STUDENT BIO:
As a Sydney-based creative director and stylist with a North Sudanese background,  my vision is to bring out the unorthodox in the world of design and exceed the normal in any way possible. My aim is to help impact individuals in creating iconic moments and I believe that a client’s style should be memorable.

I have generated a design aesthetic inspired by the avant-garde, which has sprung from the love of (delete how) inventive shapes formed through architectural elements, and the mash-up of Minimalism and Baroque styles. Those who encourage my design thinking include Rick Owens, Rei Kawakubo, Yohji Yamamoto, Grace Jones, Robert Venturi amongst others. The areas of design that have a place in my heart include visual merchandising, art direction and the styling of garments. Both art and design have always been keen interests of mine, but I wasn’t aware of having talent in this area straight away. I explored other fields before now fully realising my passion, through my years of study at Whitehouse Institute of Design.
PROJECT STATEMENT:
My signature project involves producing and creating the elements for a visual merchandising window based around avant-garde fashion. It explores, experiments and optimises the presentation of products and services to better highlight features and benefits. I have applied my photography, creative direction and styling and design skills to develop each aspect of the project. With the aim to exceed what may be the norm, it will attract, engage, and motivate the customer towards making a purchase. The genesis of the concept was the ground-breaking African-American modern dancer and choreographer Martha Graham and poses and volumes have been inspired by images of her work in the C20th.  I have abstracted movements in volume to create a statement about the dark world of fashion and give light to the notion of distorted still life.
