Design Statement
Static is based upon capturing and exaggerating the aesthetics of screen-
lights in otherwise completely dark rooms. Soft textures consisting of pleated, pinched and frayed fabrics act as a metaphor for the soft illumination of screen lights fading into the darkness. Meanwhile, sharp structural features such as emphasized shoulders and shaping commencing at the waist, embody futuristic connotations of technology. A dominant usage of silks and a wool blend helps fuse dystopian design aesthetics with luxurious fabrics.
