DESIGNER BIO
Dimple Shah is an emerging Stylist and Photographer based in Melbourne. She was born in Mumbai, India and migrated to Australia at a young age. She is a versatile creative who enjoys designing with a purpose. She is an autoethnographic designer who translates life experiences into design through her work. Shah’s work is known for its chic and artisanal accents in interiors and fashion styling. Her work consists of eclectic colour palettes, textures and prints. She is influenced by modernity and the intricacy in Indian art and design. She also has a successful background in set design for feature Bollywood films and web series. Her passion for set design is visible in her work. She aims to create a space where the viewer can engage and step into her world of visuals.
DESIGN STATEMENT
“Reorganise” is a fashion editorial based on introducing colour, texture and print to the organised world and re organising it via high fashion styling. The colour palette consists of on trend feminine, fun eclectic colours including lavender, mustard yellow, dusky pink, magenta and teal. The aim is to make the viewer experience a workspace they have never experienced before. Hence, the set design is based on an office setup painted in block colours with clean shapes to juxtapose and compliment the prints and textures of the garments and accessories. This demonstrates contrast, defines shape and scale. “Reorganise” is also breaking the norm of wearing black and white in a work setting. The editorial is designed with eccentric office/fashion vignette shots juxtaposing with playful fashion macro shots to represent the silence of the chaotic work life.
