Elissa Trlifaj is an emerging creative originally from Newcastle, NSW, who combines fashion, photography, and storytelling throughout her work. Drawing inspiration from the coast and the movement of water, she examines identity and emotion through fashion, textures, and visual narratives. Her project fuses personal memories and the ocean, resulting in work that is both intimate and conceptual. By translating the colors, patterns, and rhythms of the seaside into fashion imagery, Elissa creates pieces that are personal, story driven and deeply connected to Newcastle.
DESIGN STATEMENT
Aqua Vitae is a three part fashion and lifestyle editorial inspired by water and coastal life. Bathing Beauties evokes a 1960s inspired morning swim, while Swell Sisters presents an interview style story with surfers Hunter and Blaze Roberts. The final chapter explores water's form, translating curves, and textures into garments and visual composition. This editorial was shot across coastal and studio settings, the project examines water as identity, rhythm, and memory, highlighting the possibilities of water.
