ELLA BELL
BIO:
Ella Bell is a Melbourne based stylist with a passion for creative direction, currently undertaking a Bachelor of Design at Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia. Known for her contemporary design aesthetic, Ella creates work that amalgamates this with inspiration from past design movements. Colour and texture are a main focus within her work, in addition to pushing perspective and creating movement being at the forefront of her imagery. This is reflective within her unique and progressive style. Ella Bell has a passion for telling stories and does this by creating narratives within her work. She invites the viewer into the fictitious worlds she generates within her designs. This allows her to connect with the audience through the mutual human experience of storytelling. Ultimately, Ella wants the viewer to enter into her creative mind, to share in the world she creates through her creative direction, styling and photography.
PROJECT STATEMENT:
Para phenomena transports the viewer into the future where science has advanced beyond our control and human cloning is the norm. Inclusive of a cool tonal colour palette, along with strong silhouettes and shapes, the work is presented in a studio environment along with a sterile brutalist location. These add to the eeriness felt whilst consuming this document, feeding into the concept and question of ‘what if’ this was the future. The work embraces current fashion and beauty trends, featuring abstract construction with feminine touches. Para Phenomenon captures the juxtaposition of fashion and science through Ella’s skills in concept photography, creative direction, styling, illustration and editorial design. The editorial explores Ella’s creative imagination and allows the viewer to enter into this speculative, fictional world.
