STUDENT BIO:
Graduated with a Bachelor in Interior Design from Whitehouse Institute of Design Sydney. As an interior designer, I aim to create designs that have positive impacts on society and the environment. I am a conscientious, intelligent and an enthusiastic creative individual who loves design. As a designer I want to create spaces that are thoughtful with a focus on natural materials and warm tranquil colours. Interior design for me is about creating spaces where design is not only practical and sustainable yet also can be appreciated and accessed by all.
PROJECT STATEMENT:
My graduate interior design project is a women’s shelter located in Woolloomooloo, NSW that aims to create a continuous community connection, a place of safety and security for women and their children fleeing domestic violence. This design concept is a sanctuary and safe haven for women. It focuses on disguising the shelter to the public by having a cafe opening to the market place. Workshop space has been allocated for the women to learn a variety of new skills and the garden green spaces provides a relaxed environment for those seeking counselling on the ground floor. The shelter design allows for a vast range of workshops to help women learn new skills and seek counselling in the garden green spaces on the ground floor. This design helps to make women feel safe, secure and at home as much as possible.
