BIO:
Growing up surrounded by a family of Italian immigrants, Isabella’s background has given her a love of loud and garish pieces, influencing her design aesthetics majorly. Her philosophy is visual euphoria, employing bold, bright colours and prints in sleek vintage-inspired silhouettes to create wearable art that evokes raw emotions. She draws primarily from pop culture and media for inspiration, utilising film and music that resonates with her to create collections that showcase the essence of her relationship with that piece of media.
COLLECTION STATEMENT:
‘Love Me Tender’ is inspired by the films of Australian director Baz Luhrmann, particularly 2001’s Moulin Rouge!. The film’s centrepiece is the relationship between Ewan McGregor’s Christian and Nicole Kidman’s Satine, depicting the whirlwind passionate romance they develop against the backdrop of the Moulin Rouge revue. This collection reflects the masculine and feminine roles that Christian and Satine fill in their relationship, with menswear-inspired wools and suiting pieces and sultry feminine silks and showgirl pieces put together to form an androgynous love child.
