Design Statement
Jardin Flueri explores notions of escapism in the modern day landscape, with the ever growing desire to return to simpler times driven by nostalgia and yearning. Drawing from English nature, British Folklore, and Victorian era escapism, Jardin Flueri challenges societal issues of sustainability and environmentalism, technological dependency and engrossment, and gender expressions of femininity. These ideas are questioned through exaggerated feminine forms, soft and flowing silhouettes, and prints referencing En Plein Air Impressionism and delicate Art Nouveau designs. Jardin Flueri utilises the soft and delicate nature of drapes, gathers, and sheers and mixes them with structured corsetry and exaggerated feminine forms, commenting on the juxtapositions of nature and technology, womanhood and girlhood.
