Mia Konz has always had a fascination with stripes and spots which is a key theme throughout all the work she produces. Mia Konz is an emerging designer based in Sydney, Australia specialising in Creative Direction, Styling and Photography with a strong eye for detail and commitment to excellence, consistently striving to achieve high quality work. Mia has a passion for shaping ideas into bold visual narratives, her work often captures strong silhouettes, textures, shape and line demonstrating the high quality skills developed from her time studying at Whitehouse Institute of Design. Mia has experimented with projection of pattern and print to enhance high fashion imagery which has become a passion of hers. Mia’s Design work awarded her the 2025 Electrolux Sustainable Designers grant for her high quality design skills.
DESIGN STATEMENT
Stripes emerge as the central motif, embodying both clarity and versatility. The repetition, orientation and perfection of stripes are explored in this imagery. Stripes, inherent boldness, whether rendered with sharp precision or softened through irregularity, act as visual rhythm and contrast. Horizontal, vertical, or diagonal, layered together they evolve into a pattern , an interplay of repetition and variation that produces texture, depth, and identity throughout this editorial. Pattern is the key element to this imagery, through simple lines both thick and thin it creates a positive and negative effect using negative space. In the future pattern will be developed into projection into all elements of design taking a different approach to traditional pattern application. Illustration was another key element in this design showcasing the power line in forming shape and imagery. With this direction more is more.
