Project statement
Arachnid FW25 is a womenswear collection that merges avant-garde design with feminine elegance. The silhouettes draw inspiration from the anatomy and movement of arachnids, reflected in the collection’s textural contrasts and material choices. Exploring the tension between delicacy and strength, the collection juxtaposes heavy and lightweight fabrics to create visual and structural balance. The hero piece embodies this dynamic through sculptural wool forms and fluid silk chiffon, combining structure with movement. The repurposing of netted grocery bags and coffee bean sacks adds a rawness to the collection. Referencing late-1800s womenswear and undergarments, the collection reimagines restrictive archetypes through modern expression. Using natural fibres and earthy tones, Arachnid symbolises renewal, bringing garments back to the earth.
