PROJECT STATEMENT:
‘The Deific Feminine’ is a fashion editorial which celebrates the divine and mystical power of women. Raised in a household with a strong sense of spirituality, I was inspired by the strong and independent women that I grew up around. This editorial is an homage to their legacy in my life. The moody photography, extravagant styling and mixed media illustration all done by myself sets the scene for an alluring fantasy journey through time.

The vintage styling is a nod to 1930’s Hollywood glamour while the retro homewares and film-like filters reference the 1970’s which was a large cultural influence to this story due to second-wave feminist art. Artists during this time were ground-breaking in the feminism movement tackling subjects such as objectivity, domesticity, the male gaze, beauty norms and many other topics. My editorial is a tribute to these artists as the narrative is about women reclaiming their power and beauty. This has flowed into the editorial through aspects such the Motherpeace Tarot Deck, Goddess culture and second-wave feminism, influences which are very pertinent today.
