NILOFAR  MUKARRAM

DESIGNER BIO:

Nilofar Mukarram is a designer who is passionate about interiors, being constantly immersed in a mixture of cultures, she has grown to learn and appreciate diversity. Nilofar believes that good design is an expression of many contradictions, one that is simple yet complex. she creates environments that work perfectly in form and function whilst possessing a timeless quality but pushing the boundaries of design. 

Her approach to design is a mixture of dynamism and innovation, creating new spatial experiences. Nilofar has an eye for detail and her objective and passion always remains the same, to attain the highest level of achievement in producing memorable, highly defined interiors which reflect the client’s own personal history.


DESIGN STATEMENT:

The Centre for Contemporary Photography ‘CCP’ has acquired the old corner pub ‘Marquis of Lorne’ across the road. They will transform the interior of the existing heritage building to create CCP’s Artist in Residence. CCP will offer the residence to selected photography artists from Australia and worldwide to produce work for CCP and promote the Art of Photography. The program offered will take in different artists for defined periods of time throughout the year.   

The Artist in Residence will house a photography studio on the Ground Floor that can be transformed into an exhibition space for the artist to produce/ exhibit their work. Level 1 includes an open-plan living, kitchen, and dining space. A custom black steel spiral staircase leads to the Level 2 retreat: bedroom, ensuite, study and north-facing private terrace.  ​​​​​​​
