Sydney based, graduate designer, Sofia Avramides roots her design inspiration and processes in the sourcing of heritage lace and fabrics. By repurposing vintage finds Avramides designs to the feminine form, guided through memory and material, she finds the beauty in fragments, remnants, and the soft imperfections that give fabrics their soul.
Drawing from the creative world around her, Avramides is shaped through the concept of renewal. Deeply captivated by objects and textiles with past life, drawn to the quiet power of reuse and repurposing as a way to honour the past while shaping the present. Approaching design almost ritualistically, allowing aged materials and inherited textures to inform her process. As a designer, Sofia moves fluidly between structure and softness, embracing both vulnerability and strength. She is fascinated by the body’s poetic relationship with fabric, the way cloth can comfort, protect, reveal, or transform. This relationship fuels her storytelling, an exploration of femininity that feels both intimate and modern.

DESIGN STATEMENT
“Bound to Bloom” is a womenswear collection exploring the balance between delicacy and strength, and how femininity can exist as both soft and resilient. Embedded in themes of memory, transformation, and emotional growth, the collection reimagines traditional domestic textiles into garments of empowerment.
Over time, curated vintage tablecloths and lace have been collected and reworked through techniques of hand-draping, corsetry, and pleating, translating personal reflection into form. These materials, once symbols of care and quiet labour, are transformed into structured silhouettes that speak to self-expression and renewal. Through contrasting textures of heirloom lace, virgin wool, and satin suiting, “Bound to Bloom” celebrates the evolving language of womanhood composed yet fluid, nostalgic yet forward-looking. Each garment honours the past while embracing transformation, revealing how beauty and strength can coexist in the act of becoming.
