TRINITY TANKS

STUDENT BIO:
Trinity Tanks has completed a Bachelor of Design in Creative Direction and Styling from the Whitehouse Institute of Design, Australia. Tanks practice encompasses fashion and beauty photography and creative direction, with a special interest in set design. Her approach to image making is greatly inspired by surrealism and kitsch aesthetics, combining the familiar and the peculiar, the whimsical and the grunge; with the addition of customised fashion pieces and set design. Tanks creates playful visual stories that feature atmospheric coloured lighting and movement, that aim to make viewers feel as if they have been transported to another world; a wonderland of fashion and beauty.

DESIGN STATEMENT:
‘Moiré’ is a whimsical and surreal fashion and beauty editorial inspired by the cool tones and shifting forms of the ocean. This project distorts reality, creating a dreamlike realm, where water becomes both a reflection of the world and a portal to another dimension. ‘Moiré’ is brought to light utilising iridescent, heat-manipulated fabrics, resins and highly reflective materials that create distortions and emulate surface water patterns and reflections. The colour palette draws from vibrant and lustrous pinks, purples and blues from that of the water and materials alike abalone pearls and shells found within the sea. The evocation of water’s unpredictable beauty, transports viewers into an ethereal realm where light and texture invite immersion into a fantastical; fluid experience.
