PROJECT STATEMENT:
Life unfolds like a tapestry, with each day bringing a fresh thread of experience, both simple and profound. ‘Growing Still’ investigates the increasing complexity that arise as we mature, juxtaposing childhood innocence with the complicated reality of maturity. Through a surreal lens, I explore how we lose and rediscover aspects of ourselves as a result of societal expectations, personal growth, and cultural influences. Despite these shifts, there is beauty in appreciating the present moment—an encouragement to embrace life’s volatility and the small pleasures that frequently go unrecognised. The concept depicts a journey in which progress and hardship coexist, and the turbulence of maturity is tempered by the realisation that life, despite its difficulties, is worth cherishing. By sharing a series of life snapshots, I hope to remind us that each stage has its own beauty and that progress, no matter how complex, is a gift in and of itself.
